Landscape Manager
Omni Barton Creek Resort & Country Club
Position Summary
The Landscape Manager is responsible for overseeing all landscape maintenance, enhancement, and beautification efforts across the entire Barton Creek property, including the Resort, Country Club facilities, clubhouses, lodging areas, common areas, entry corridors, tennis and recreation facilities, employee areas, and other managed grounds.
This position is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of landscape quality, presentation, safety, and environmental stewardship while ensuring an exceptional experience for members, guests, homeowners, and employees. The Landscape Manager leads and develops the landscape team, manages budgets and resources, and works closely with Resort Operations, Engineering, Agronomy, and Club leadership to execute the property's landscape vision.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, train, motivate, and supervise all landscape team members.
Develop daily, weekly, and seasonal work schedules.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities.
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and service excellence.
Landscape Operations
Oversee maintenance of all ornamental landscapes, trees, shrubs, flower beds, native areas, irrigation systems, hardscape-adjacent plantings, and seasonal color displays.
Develop and execute annual landscape enhancement plans.
Maintain resort entrances, clubhouse grounds, lodging areas, event spaces, and high-profile guest areas to luxury resort standards.
Ensure all properties consistently meet Omni and Barton Creek presentation standards.
Monitor plant health and implement proactive fertility, pest management, and disease control programs.
Coordinate seasonal color rotations and landscape renovations.
Tree Management & Environmental Stewardship
Coordinate with certified arborists on tree health assessments, pruning programs, preservation efforts, and risk mitigation.
Develop and execute brush management, wildfire fuel reduction, and native habitat enhancement programs.
Monitor and address invasive species concerns.
Promote sustainable landscape practices and environmental stewardship.
Irrigation Management
Oversee landscape irrigation systems and water management programs.
Monitor water use and implement conservation initiatives.
Coordinate irrigation repairs, upgrades, and capital improvements.
Ensure compliance with local water regulations and restrictions.
Budgeting & Administration
Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
Monitor labor, materials, chemical, irrigation, and equipment expenses.
Prepare purchase requests and capital improvement recommendations.
Manage vendor relationships and contractor performance.
Maintain accurate records related to labor, applications, irrigation, inventory, and equipment.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all Omni safety standards and OSHA regulations.
Conduct regular safety meetings and training programs.
Maintain proper chemical handling, storage, and application procedures.
Ensure all landscape equipment is maintained and operated safely.
Member & Guest Experience
Respond professionally to member, guest, homeowner, and management inquiries.
Coordinate landscape preparation for tournaments, weddings, special events, and VIP visits.
Collaborate with Club and Resort leadership to continuously improve the appearance of the property.
Qualifications
Degree in Horticulture, Landscape Management, Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field preferred.
Minimum 5 years of landscape management experience, preferably in a luxury resort, country club, commercial property, or large-scale landscape operation.
Strong knowledge of ornamental horticulture, irrigation systems, tree management, pest management, and landscape construction.
Proven leadership and team development skills.
Experience managing budgets and capital projects.
Valid Texas Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and large-scale operations.
Knowledge of Texas plant materials, irrigation practices, and environmental regulations.
Proficiency with landscape management software, irrigation systems, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as operational needs require.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to walk extensive property grounds daily.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to operate landscape equipment and vehicles as necessary.
