Job Description
The Software Engineer II will help design, develop, test, and deploy software for patients, staff, and other businesses. They will work with new technologies and architectures to improve patient outcomes and provide excellent experiences. They will have experience building products across the stack and a firm understanding of web technologies, APIs, databases, and modern development practices. They will be responsible for taking ownership of projects and building secure, scalable, and reliable software/services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Works across the full stack, building highly scalable distributed solutions using TypeScript, React, and NextJS.
- Participates in all aspects of agile software development including design, implementation, and deployment.
- Builds end-to-end systems optimized for speed and scale.
- Assumes leadership of new projects from conceptualization to deployment.
- Develops and maintains data schemas and queries in PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server.
- Designs and integrates RESTful APIs and healthcare interoperability standards including FHIR and HL7.
- Manages containerized deployments using Docker and collaborate via Git/BitBucket.
- Implements enterprise security and identity patterns using OAuth.
- Collaborates with the NEMS Clinical, Operations, and Technology teams in various projects.
- Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or STEM program.
- 3+ years of experience building large-scale software applications.
- 3+ years of experience with SQL relational databases like PostgreSQL or MS SQL Server.
- 3+ years of Front-end (UX/UI) development using React and NextJS.
- Proven ability to deliver production software applications and services.
- Experience building web applications and services.
- Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
- Experience using version control systems, specifically Git and Bitbucket.
- Excellent debugging, optimization skills, and developing unit/integration testing code.
- Knowledge of TypeScript, JavaScript, ReactJS, and NextJS.
- Knowledge of HL7 and FHIR standards.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical people.
- Understanding of HIPAA and privacy.
LANGUAGE:
- Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English.
- Fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin), Vietnamese, Spanish and other languages may be required depending on location.
- Fluency in other languages are an asset.
STATUS:
- This is an FLSA Exempt position.
- This is not an OSHA high-risk position.
