Department Business Manager
USC Department of Pediatrics at CHLA is seeking a Department Business Manager. Working directly under the supervision of
the Administrative Director, the Business Manager works closely with financial administrators and managers.
The successful candidate will be motivated, pro-active, resourceful, and detail oriented. The position requires excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to be decisive and adaptable. Candidates should have experience with financial and payroll systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
At least 5 years of administrative or project administration experience
Experience in a complex medical or academic setting encouraged.

Sound judgment and decision making
Effective facilitator in various settings
Essential job duties include, but are not limited to:
Administers the business operations for Departments at CHLA and is responsible for managing salary profile development across systems; trains and supervises direct reports on administrative staff, assigns work and provides feedback, performance assessments, and any appropriate counsel or disciplinary actions, including termination.
Manages daily transactions and monitors expenses and generates regular and special financial reports for internal and external distribution, including, but not limited to fiscal year salary; labor distribution; PR projection; time-off; and worker history.
Administers timely, accurate personnel and payroll functions for all Departments at CHLA, including cost-allocation changes and the processing of Payroll Accounting Adjustments as well as accessing and retrieving payroll and HR data and onboarding grad students.
The manager follows and strengthens standard operating procedures in conjunction with the school and university and the CHLA Medical Group, coordinating employment and compensation.
The manager researches and identifies funding sources, contracts, grants, and gifts, and establishes and prepares budgets and follows up for awards and funding.
Follows established USC and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan.
This position is hybrid and employee must report to work at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Glendale location when scheduled. Work hours and on-site days may be subject to change depending on business needs.
The annual budgeted salary range for this position is $100,878.88 - $144,574.07. Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum educationMinimum Experience: 3 years, Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience
Minimum Field of Expertise: Business administration, accounting or related degree and budget experience including knowledge of government and fund accounting. Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
