
Supervisor, Gateway Clearance - FLEX (Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
Job Description
- Manages and coordinates customs clearance activities in the customs house brokerage or gateway environment in an efficient and cost-effective manner
- Ensures compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products being shipped through all DHL facilities
- Establishes, monitors, and revises policies, procedures and service standards for customs clearance operations
- Ensures all policies and procedures are consistently administered
- Responsible for meeting key performance indicators targets for a given product
- Supervises a staff of approximately 30 with two direct reports. This person will be responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing subordinate staff
- Assigns work, sets completion dates, reviews work, and manages performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes
- U.S. Customs Broker License preferred.
- Complete understanding and wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in function or business area
- An advanced understanding of specific aspects of work supervised and practical application to problems and situations ordinarily encountered
- Knows and effectively uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures relative to quality and productivity improvements, training, budgeting and cost control, and progressive techniques in area of specialization
- Generally understands basic supervisory approaches for work direction, motivation, and disciplinary action
- Typically requires BS/BA and 3-5 years’ experience in related field, including at least one year of supervisory experience
- Professional certification required in some areas
This position requires access to secured airport areas. Selected candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge, which includes passing a criminal history records check, fingerprinting, and meeting all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Candidates must be able to provide all documentation necessary to support the badging process.
