Job Description
Position Summary:
Ensure the quality of raw materials, formulations and finished product.
Essential Functions:
Chemical analysis of batches blended on all shifts in all departments
Chemical analysis of line and tank flushes on all shifts in all departments
Microbiological analysis of batches, finished goods and raw materials.
Calculation of required adds to rework batches
Troubleshooting of analytical equipment
Routine and project specific data entry
Analysis of raw materials
Provide assistance to formulation to troubleshoot problems with formulated batches
Assist with the evaluation of holds and in process testing as necessary
Understand and follow Good Laboratory Practices
Finished product testing as required by customers
Document ALL laboratory results in specific laboratory notebooks
Report all non approved results to laboratory supervisor
Good attendance (less than 2 absences) and good safety record
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
The worker constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers, accurately, loudly or quickly
Visual/hearing ability sufficient to quickly analyze and comprehend written and verbal communication on all business documents
Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction such as the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound
Repetitive motion such as substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity with or without assistance such as: determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned and make general observations of structures
The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field
Must have college chemistry and/or quality laboratory experience
Must be able to pass the Combined Basic Skills test with a minimum score of 70%
Experience:
Must have a positive team building attitude with references to verify
Additional Qualifications:
Ability to perform visual observations of samples and testing results
Able to read shop orders or be able to train on shop order reading
Must be able to work flexible hours
Should be familiar with the layout of the plant
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good dexterity and organizational skills
Computer literate or able to train on programs needed to perform job
Understand and apply LEAN manufacturing tools to continuously improve any and all processes of the job
