HVAC Technician (Preventative Maintenance)
Job Description
***This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP***
Under supervision of the Allied Trade Supervisor, the Automotive A/C Technician, performs preventive and corrective maintenance on automotive/mobile air conditioning systems. Ensures work is complete and conforms to standards and requirements for all Manufacture, Technical Manuals, Army Regulations, established processes, and local SOPs. Perform maintenance inspections, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC issues. Ensure practices and enforces safety rules and proper use of personal protective equipment.

- Service Orders
- Nonvalue added work (Shop clean-up, Inventory of Tools)
- Installing, maintaining, servicing and repairing ventilation and air conditioning systems on vehicles, mobile refrigeration containers and equipment.
- Identifying maintenance risks on equipment.
- Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for automotive / mobile air conditioning systems.
- Cleaning, adjusting, and repairing systems, and performing warranty services.
- Identifying maintenance risks on equipment.
- Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for automotive / mobile air conditioning
systems. - Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
- Providing technical direction and on-the-job training.
- Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
- Ensuring compliance with automotive / mobile standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Complying with service standards, work instructions and customers' requirements.
- Performs other duties and assignments as required
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications
- Two years related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
- Education/Experience:
- College degree preferred, high school diploma is required or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in automotive / mobile air conditioning repair.
- Must be able to read and understand schematic drawings, and strong troubleshooting abilities.
- Must have Land-Based Transport Mobile Air-Conditioning (MAC) Servicing NCII certification
- Must be a Philippine Citizen
- Must have a valid Philippine driver’s license.
- Program Specific Requirements:
- Possess knowledge of safety and environmental issues.
- Able to communicate with customer.
- Visual Acuity
- The worker is required to have the ability to clearly see small parts, wiring diagrams, gauges, and digital readouts at close range. Minimum standard: 20/40 vision or better (corrected or uncorrected). Must have normal color vision to distinguish between color-coded wires, refrigerant hoses, and indicator lights.
- Working Environment:
- Must be capable of working in various weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Physical Requirements:
- Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
- Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
- Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
