Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineer in Training to join our team based out of our Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana offices. As a team member, you will have the chance to contribute to multiple facets of coastal engineering and develop experience supporting the engineering, design, and construction management of large-scale flood control and water resources infrastructure projects. Typical projects include:
- Flood protection structures
- Pump stations
- Levees
- Floodwalls
- Drainage systems
- Associated civil works
This position will work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and construction teams to deliver resilient infrastructure for private and public-sector clients.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning, design, and analysis of flood control structures, including levees, pump stations, floodwalls, floodgates, and drainage facilities
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical memoranda, and design reports
- Develop and review construction drawings and specifications under the supervision of licensed engineers
- Support construction management activities, including shop drawing review, RFIs, submittals, and field observations
- Assist with quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and schedules
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical)
- Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
- Support quality control and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline (or currently pursuing)
- EI certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Working Conditions
- Primarily office work with some field duties
- Occasional travel to project sites and construction locations

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
