Summary/Objective
The MRI Technologist is responsible for the provision of MRI services to patients according to physicians’ orders and protocols. This Clinical position requires skills and experience in patient safety and providing high quality testing. Must support the mission of providing Sacred Work to all who enter the doors of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas.

- Proficiently performs MRI exams.
- Utilize MRI and MRI compatible equipment safely and recognizes the hazards inherent in an MRI unit. Possesses sufficient knowledge of MRI equipment and cryogens to recognize error, malfunctions, etc. and call for service.
- Utilize contrast media appropriately within the protocol and policy guidelines of administration.
- Apply principles of MRI safety; screens patients appropriately per policy prior to entering MRI room. Participates in QC/PI activities and enforces MRI safety zones and educates hospital staff accordingly.
- Complete all PACS/RIS date entry, histories, contrast administration and screening data.
- Participate in clinical oversight of student trainees.
Required Education and Experience
Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
Must have completed a training program in MRI Technology either on the job or via a training program with a minimum of 7 months to 1 year of experience in a hospital environment as either ARRT or a MR Tech is required.
Required License/Certifications
Current certification with American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) within 90 days
Must be licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB)
Basic Life Support certification (BLS) within 90 days
