About the role
HG is looking for an Operational Business Controller & Data Steward to strengthen the Finance team in Almere. In this role, you act as a strategic partner to senior management and play a key role in steering financial performance, cost control and data‑driven decision making.
You combine strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of how financial and operational data flows through the organisation. You recognise how data inconsistencies impact reporting and decisions and take ownership of data quality, controls and financial integrity across HG.
Working closely with Finance, Operations and senior stakeholders across multiple markets, you contribute to operational excellence and long‑term strategic initiatives. You combine business control with ownership of HG’s data models and operate with a high degree of autonomy, including developing and maintaining your own code.
HG is currently implementing a new ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics FSCM). As part of your onboarding, you will work closely with an external data engineer to quickly understand HG’s data models and processes.
What you will do
Operational Business Control & Data Ownership
Lead budgeting, forecasting and long‑term planning for operational costs (COGS, Warehouse & Distribution, Inventory Control).
Monitor operational cost performance and cost price developments, linking actuals, budget and forecast.
Act as financial gatekeeper by identifying risks, opportunities and data inconsistencies in reporting.
Support decision making through financial modelling, scenario analyses and business cases.
Clearly explain financial results and business drivers to senior management and stakeholders.
Data Quality & Reporting
Take ownership of financial and operational data quality, with focus on correct invoice booking, cost allocation and accuracy at source.
Own and further develop Power BI dashboards, ensuring consistent definitions and a single source of truth.
Identify structural data and process issues together with Finance and Operations and drive sustainable improvements.
Support data governance and ensure reporting remains robust during and after ERP implementation (Microsoft Dynamics FSCM).
