Job Description
Summary:
The role of Machinist II involves advanced responsibilities in adhering to all company HSEQ processes and procedures, reviewing and comprehending complex dimensional drawings, and performing setup and operation of turning and milling equipment for critical tasks. Responsibilities include operating a 4-Jaw “Independent Chuck,” , band saw, and drill press, polishing various valve parts to manufacturer specifications, and roughing out in-house fabricated parts. The role also requires machining flanges to within ASME 16.50 specifications, drilling and tapping holes, and having knowledge of advanced measuring tools such as calipers, dial indicators, tape measures, and thread gauges. Additionally, there is an advanced learning component for various measuring instruments, including micrometers, last word indicators, PMI guns, thread measurement devices, and veneers.
Responsibilities:
Adhere to all company HSEQ processes and procedures
Review and comprehend complex dimensional drawings
Setup and operation of turning and milling equipment for critical tasks
Operate a “Scroll” “Independent Chuck”
Operate band saw
Operate drill press
Operate knee mill
Polish various valve parts to manufacturer specifications
“Rough out” in-house fabricated parts
Machine flanges to within ASME 16.50 specifications
Drill & tap holes
Knowledge of advanced measuring tools (calipers, dial indicators, tape measures, thread gauges, PMI guns, profilometers, thread measures and veneers)
Advanced learning of multi-pitch and taper-pitch thread cutting
Positional Requirements & Qualifications:
Education & Experience
HS Education or GED Equivalent a plus
Machinist degree preferred
2-3 years industry experience
Skills & Abilities
A clear understanding of machining safety
Demonstrates proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Proper knowledge to operate rotating equipment
Basic OSHA and TWIC card (TWIC, only if required)
Basic oral & written communication skills
Ability to convert fractions to decimals efficiently and vice versa
Demonstrated “can do” attitude
Must be able to travel and have a clear driving record in accordance with company driving guidelines
Clear background check and drug/alcohol screening
Essential Physical Functions
Lifting: up to 50 pounds
Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions
Lift and carry: 50 pounds for 100 feet
Bending, stooping, walking and climbing stairs
Able to pass periodic medical evaluations and respirator fit tests to ensure continued compliance with OSHA standards.
Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps
Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
Communicating with others to exchange information
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
Operating machinery and/or power tools
Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment
Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned
Required physical ability if mandated by customer or regulatory requirements
