This position serves as an Education Consultant supporting the Wyoming Department of Education’s district and school accreditation and accountability responsibilities. The position coordinates work related to the Wyoming District Assessment System (DAS), supports initiatives addressing at-risk students, alternative schools, and dropout prevention and recovery, and provides technical assistance to districts to strengthen systems that improve student outcomes. The position participates in the accreditation process through review of annual accreditation evidence and participation on district peer review teams in alignment with W.S. 21-2-304, the Wyoming Accountability in Education Act (W.S. 21-2-204), and WDE Administrative Rules, Chapter 6: District and School Accreditation. The position also assists the Department in carrying out nondiscrimination responsibilities and other duties assigned in support of statewide education initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
- Collaborate as a member of the statewide accreditation team by reviewing district evidence and documentation to evaluate compliance with accreditation requirements and support continuous improvement efforts
- Participate in onsite accreditation visits as a peer review team member, assessing district systems, practices, and processes against established accreditation standards
- Lead coordination and administration of the Wyoming District Assessment System (DAS), providing guidance and technical assistance to districts on assessment design, implementation, data use, and evidence submission
- Support districts in strengthening local assessment systems and improving student outcomes through training, consultation, and ongoing technical assistance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for alternative school applications and approval processes, ensuring alignment with state requirements and expectations
- Coordinate statewide initiatives focused on at-risk students, including attendance improvement, student engagement, and relationship-based support strategies
- Provide technical assistance and support to districts in the development, implementation, and evaluation of alternative education programs
- Lead statewide dropout prevention and recovery efforts by collaborating with districts and stakeholders to implement effective student re-engagement strategies and improve graduation outcomes
- Analyze program data and trends related to student attendance, engagement, dropout prevention, and alternative education to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts
- Serve as a shared nondiscrimination representative, responding to inquiries, providing guidance, and supporting compliance with applicable state and federal nondiscrimination requirements
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop resources, training, and technical assistance that support district improvement and student success
- Represent the Wyoming Department of Education on statewide committees, workgroups, and meetings related to accreditation, assessment, alternative education, and student support initiatives
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to assigned programs and initiatives
- Assist with the implementation of statutory responsibilities, department priorities, and other statewide education initiatives as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to applicants with experience as a classroom teacher or school administrator.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of the state fiscal and budget process.
- Knowledge of statewide assessment and accountability systems, practices, and standards.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in district and school improvement
- Knowledge of interpersonal communications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Typical office environment.
- FLSA: Exempt
- Successful applicants must reside in Wyoming or maintain a primary residence within a 100-mile radius of Cheyenne for the duration of their employment with the Wyoming Department of Education
- This position offers full-time telework, with occasional required in-office attendance
- Applicants may be asked to provide transcripts of any relevant coursework at the time of the interview or hire
- Some travel is required
- A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation
