Assistant Manager, Accounting Department
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Manager will provide expertise to the Finance group through accounting, reconciliations, analyses, reporting and process reengineering. As such, the successful candidate will have technical skills in analytics, demonstrated expertise in process design, as well as a background in accounting or FP&A. In addition to core accounting functions, the Assistant Manager will design new (or review existing) processes with the dual objective of creating efficiencies and enhancing control.
As the successful person will interact with multiple departments within and outside of the Finance organization, excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential. Additionally, with Ocwen’s Finance team present in multiple countries, the Assistant Manager will need to collaborate effectively remotely.
JOB FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review current processes to identify improvements and propose new processes
Analyze data and prepare reports of complex transactions.
Participate in the monthly close and related reporting cycles.
Prepare / review reconciliations.
Significant participation in redesigning processes.
Successful ownership of assigned reconciliations with minimal supervision in 3 months.
Diligence in identifying areas of improvement.
QUALIFICATION:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited university with one of these (or related) majors: Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Engineering.
Master’s degree or CPA / CA / CIA / CFA certification desired, but not required.
Understanding of internal controls frameworks.
Comprehensive understanding of complex reconciliations with multiple components.
US GAAP familiarity.
Intermediate Excel and working knowledge of Access.
Conceptual knowledge of the following will be helpful, but not required: PL/SQL and VB.
Track record of successful project management.
Excellent analytic and problem solving skills.
Ability to deliver results in a dynamic and often-times ambiguous environment.
Must possess strong organizational skills, be a strategic thinker and a self-starter.
Must be able to work independently under tight accounting deadlines and know when communication/escalation is appropriate.
