DESCRIPTION:
This position will work with other Process Development personnel in a cell culture laboratory environment by performing routine laboratory activities, conducting outlined experiments, and assisting with required cell culture activities in association with activities in single-use bioreactors, mixers, and fermenters. Your role as a Senior Engineering Technician is to provide dedicated, hands-on support for both internal and external customers of Thermo Fisher Scientific. Key success metrics will be based upon your ability to support and enable multiple cell culture teams in delivering and improving process performance of the single use systems for biologic drug process development and manufacturing.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Perform routine lab and building maintenance including cleaning, organization, preventative maintenance of instrumentation, and other administrative tasks
- Support engineers and scientists during prototype evaluations of new technologies
- Prepare reagents and media using written specifications
- Troubleshoot processes or equipment using critical thinking skills
- Provide maintenance, setup, and day-to-day support of bioreactor experiments
- Follow written laboratory procedures as needed
- Maintain cell lines including cryopreservation and thawing
HOW YOU WILL GET HERE:
- High school diploma working toward Engineering, Technology, or Science degree
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal direction
- Ability to follow basic laboratory instructions and safety requirements
- Proficient in basic Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to perform laboratory work using good aseptic technique
- Lifting (up to 50 pounds) and stooping required
- Must be willing to become forklift certified
Preference given to candidates with experience in:
- Applied molecular or cell biology and cell cloning
- Programming automated laboratory equipment
