Position Summary: The Health & Safety Specialist provides site level support for driving safety excellence. This position focuses on the implementation of effective management systems that assure regulatory compliance, management of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) programs, achievement of performance excellence at the operating level, and supporting a mature HSE culture via the systematic processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead by example and engage and inspire employees daily to want to work safely and look out for their co-workers' well-being
Develop and support the implementation of HSE programs and practices consistent with the regulatory and corporate requirements
Provide expert technical support across the organization
Assist in establishing vision, goals, objectives, and targets for HSE performance; assist in developing quality metrics to drive performance improvement
Provide expert hands-on technical involvement on issues, programs, and processes involving compliance with HSE standards and policies
Provide assistance to maintain and improve site HSE Management System in accordance with Responsible Care 14001 standards
Provide expert technical support for Industrial Hygiene Programs including Personnel & Area Sampling, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) selection and compliance, Hazard Communication Program, Chemical Approvals, and Training
Participate in HSE activities and teams to improve and drive the HSE maturity level via Continuous Improvement
Support the HSE programs by engaging and spending in the time operating areas daily
Manage the site loss prevention programs
Participate in the development, implementation, and verification of the site’s compliance training programs
Assist and support the operating areas on a 24/7 basis as needed. (i.e. plant turn a rounds)
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field OR minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in occupational safety, health, or process safety, preferably within chemical manufacturing or construction environments
Understanding of occupational health and safety standards, including applicable NFPA and OSHA regulations
Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
Emergency response training, EMT certification, or prior experience in industrial or site security is highly desired.
The expected base pay for this position is $95,000-$142,600
