This position is open only to non-classified permanent employees of the listed department and division within that department.

Collections and Guest Services Specialist works with the Center for Colorado Women’s History team on the coordination of collection management, guest services, volunteer training, and operational systems provided by the museum regional property. Additionally, the coordinator ensures guest services goals are met while supporting sustainable facility operations and income-generating activities.Work includes but is not limited to the following:
Job Duty 1
- Assesses and communicates CCWH collections needs and serves as liaison between Community Museums and Curatorial Services & Collections Access
- Collaborates with community museum staff and Curatorial Services; Collections Access teams to troubleshoot, plan and address community museum collections needs in accordance with the institution’s mission and best practice standards
- Plans and implements collections projects at CCWH which could include database entry, inventories, conservation, collection rotations, storage and retrieval, movement, etc.
- Coordinates and completes incoming and outgoing collections activities, as necessary, with Collections staff and collections storage locations in Denver
- Oversees community museum exhibit-related loans in accordance with the institution’s mission and best practice standards
- Collaborates with Curatorial and Collections staff to research and support collections-related exhibit development
- Schedule and conduct tours
- Explain historical information and site interpretations and answer questions from visitors;
- Collect admissions fees, sell merchandise, and keep records of the number of visitors.
- Use non-escalation and de-escalation techniques when working with external and internal stakeholders
- Train, schedule, and evaluate the work of volunteers.
- Assist with special projects and events as assigned
- Other duties as assigned.
Proven Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
- Four (4) years of full-time professional experience with primary focus of
- Collection of historic materials, evaluating, systemizing, preserving, and making available for reference records, documents, and objects of historical significance.
- Part-time experience will be pro-rated
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelors' degree from an accredited institution or college in History, Museum Studies, Archeology, Women’s Studies, or another relevant field will count for 1 year of required experience.
- A strong background in history, with general knowledge of Colorado history.
- A background in Argus collections database management.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to juggle multiple project schedules.
- Experience and confidence in providing historic tours.
- Experience training volunteers.
- Basic research abilities.
- An enthusiasm to explore ideas, amplify diverse voices, and help others discover what makes Colorado Colorado.
- Relevant experience working for the State of Colorado.
- Circumstances may require a position to work outside of regular business hours.
- Must be available to work a Thursday through Monday schedule.
- Clear understanding and experience in collections management.
- Excellent interpersonal, and communication.
- Project management skills: ability to multitask, problem-solve, prioritize, create systems and processes, and collaborate with and engage others.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities, and able to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions.
- Detail oriented.
- Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively and articulately in writing and orally with diverse communities in all corners of the state.
- Work well under pressure.
- Strong relationship management skills and excellent representation of the department in community interactions.
- Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
- Technical Competence – Technical experience as it relates to the duties outlined in this job announcement.
- Depth and Breadth of Experience – Experience that covers multiple areas outlined in this job announcement. Experience should be varied and not one dimensional and demonstrate a wide range of community involvement.
- Job Fit – Experience will be evaluated to determine how well your past experience aligns with and meets the business needs of this position. Current experience is preferred.

Fair Pay & Compensation: History Colorado is committed to pay equity. The posted salary range represents our good faith estimate for this role. Final offers are determined by a comprehensive salary analysis in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, considering factors such as a candidate’s relevant experience, education, work location and internal equity.
