Job Description

Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is looking for a Maintenance Manager-UME to work in Fort Hood, Texas. The Maintenance Manager-UME is the principal assistant to the Project Manager on all matters pertaining to the maintenance mission. The incumbent should have comprehensive knowledge of material maintenance processes regarding testing, inspecting, repairing, servicing, maintaining, transporting, and processing/de‐processing commercial or tactical equipment in accordance with maintenance requests, military regulations and instructions, and government technical publications, or OEM equivalent publications when a government technical publication is not available. Responsibilities

  • Oversees and coordinates the workers who maintain and repair military equipment to include combat systems, rolling stock, generation equipment, and various other components.
  • Responsible for evaluating problematic systems and determining what installation or repair services need to be performed.
  • Hires workers, organizes schedules, and assigns work activity.
  • Performs training to ensure individuals have all the requisite skills.
  • Develops and implements maintenance procedures and maintains personnel skills records.
  • Evaluates each worker's performance to ensure quality operations.
  • Investigates accidents and prepares relevant reports.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 10+ years of documented supervisory experience and a comprehensive knowledge of governing regulations, policies, procedures and instructions in U.S. Army material maintenance.
  • Must have skills in both verbal and written communications to conduct meetings, execute plans, and prepare reports, plans and work plans.
  • Must have the ability to provide information and reports to resolve issues and recommend actions to improve delivery of services to the customers.
  • Must be proficient in standard business office software.
  • Must be able to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening.
  • Must be able to receive a favorable TIER-1 Investigation result and obtain/maintain a CAC. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of shop level experience as a technician and understanding of quality systems.
  • 10+ years Army maintenance experience.
  • 91 series U.S. Army Military Occupational Specialty Maintenance Experience.
  • Knowledge of all installed product software at the operator level and automated data processing policies and procedures as they pertain to assigned equipment, both Logistics STAMIS and installation desktop computer for the areas of operations which will allow the contractor to solve and/or contact appropriate technical support to resolve any problem associated with these systems.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • High School Diploma / GED.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and shop environments and is regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise
  • May be frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $65K - $75K.
