Role
The Pastry Chef is responsible for leading all pastry operations, ensuring exceptional product quality, creativity, food safety, cost control, and team performance while delivering outstanding guest experiences in line with resort standards.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise daily pastry kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and company standards.
Create and develop innovative pastry, bakery, dessert, and special event offerings.
Ensure consistent quality, presentation, taste, and freshness of all pastry products.
Monitor food preparation, storage, portion control, waste management, and inventory levels.
Manage purchasing and stock requirements within approved budgets.
Support guest satisfaction by delivering high-quality products and responding to guest preferences and feedback.
Train, coach, and develop pastry team members on recipes, techniques, safety, and service standards.
Maintain a positive and collaborative team environment while promoting productivity and accountability.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and resort policies.
Monitor departmental performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions.
Participate in departmental meetings, planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Act as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and Aman values at all times.
Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Pastry & Baking, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
Good command of spoken English
Experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role within a professional kitchen, preferably in 5-star hotels or luxury resorts.
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, dessert presentation, chocolate work, pastry arts, and modern plating styles.
Ability to create innovative dessert menus while maintaining consistency and quality standards.
Ability to lead, train, and supervise the pastry team; manage daily operations, stock control, and cost efficiency.
Strong understanding of food safety standards, HACCP, and hygiene regulations.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet production deadlines.
Good teamwork spirit with effective communication skills.
Willing to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
