As a Mechanic, you will help maintain, diagnose, and repair the vehicles and equipment that support our landscaping operations. This role is critical to keeping trucks, trailers, and landscaping equipment running safely and efficiently, minimizing downtime and supporting daily field operations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced with small engines, diesel or gas vehicles, and commercial landscaping equipment.
Responsibilities:
Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain landscaping equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, skid steers, and other small engines
Perform maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles such as trucks, trailers, and utility vehicles
Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and extend asset life
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related issues
Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
Coordinate equipment repairs and schedules with operations and field supervisors
Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and company policies
Manage tools, parts inventory, and shop organization
Identify equipment issues proactively and recommend repairs or replacements
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Repairing and servicing a fleet of mixed manufacturers and types.
Ensuring that all vehicles and equipment operate efficiently and safely.
Providing updates to leadership and field staff as requested.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
3+ years of experience as a mechanic, equipment technician, or similar role
Strong knowledge of small engine repair and mechanical diagnostics
Experience performing preventative maintenance and repairs
Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair priorities
Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and perform hands-on work
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Valid Florida Driver’s License and the ability to pass an MVR check.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Experience working in landscaping, construction, agriculture, or field service industries
Experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, or welding
Familiarity with commercial landscaping equipment brands and fleet vehicles
Small engine or automotive certification (ASE or equivalent preferred)
Basic electrical troubleshooting experience
Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Interest in long-term growth within fleet management or operations support
Gas and Diesel engine experience is a must, especially with Ford and GM models.
Heavy duty diesel experience is desirable, such as International, Freightliner, Peterbilt, etc.
Heavy equipment knowledge is desirable, especially with Caterpillar, John Deere, Bobcat and other various manufacturers.
Welding experience is highly desirable.
Small engine and two cycle experience are desirable.
Valid CDL license is a plus!
