Job Summary
The Clinical Research Biopsy Coordinator I (Biopsy CRC) works closely with the clinical research study teams to coordinate and process biopsy specimens for clinical research subjects. THE BIOPSY CRC I WILL SUPPORT BOTH ACADEMIC MEDICAL CENTERS OF BWH AND MGH AND BE REQUIRED TO BE ON-SITE AT EITHER LOCATION DEPENDING UPON NEED. The primary role of this position is to assume the responsibility for coordination of the scheduling of tissue procurement within the various clinical trial timelines and ensure that the tissue procurement and processing is carried out per clinical trial laboratory manual specifications. Additional major responsibilities include assisting with sample management, including receipt, local transport, and packaging for shipment, and quality assurance functionsPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Biopsy CRC reports directly to the Clinical Research Manager for overall job performance. For day-to-day responsibilities, they work directly with the disease-based clinical research study team.
The following job duties will be performed independently:
• Have comprehensive knowledge of all assigned protocols
• Utilize protocol specific flow charts, intake sheets and other tools as needed to ensure protocol compliance and proper data acquisition as provided by various study teams
• Coordinate and communicate biopsy appointments with physicians, nurses and all test areas in a timely manner
• Coordinate, obtain, process, and ship (e.g. utilization of specific packaging and ensuring proper handling and shipping of samples) all protocol required tissue samples
• Maintain accurate patient research files and records of sample procurement
• Coordinate location of specific study supplies with study team and utilizes study specific supplies as required
• Assist primary CRA of each study with data management tasks as needed
• Assist with the quality assurance review of biopsy/tissue data
• May assist with, or perform, any other tasks related to biopsy collections for Cancer Center Investigator tissue procurement projects.
• May participate in phone contact with study participants as delegated by Research Nurses

• Working knowledge of medical terminology
• Working knowledge of various computer applications in order to maintain accurate databases as necessary
• Ability to correctly perform tissue handling tasks described in written instructions and Standard Operating Procedures

• Duties will be performed in an ambulatory office, infusion unit setting and interventional radiology procedure areas.
· Duties will be performed on-site at both BWH and MGH locations as needed
