You will lead IP strategy and protection for cutting-edge health and social sciences research across the University.
You will advise on patents and commercialisation, positioning discoveries for licensing, ventures and real-world impact.
You will collaborate with researchers, attorneys and industry partners, broadening your influence across diverse innovation pipelines.
What you will deliver:
Lead assessment and protection of new inventions, crafting robust patent strategies for MDHS and HASS portfolios.
Draft, prosecute and manage patent applications, partnering with external counsel to optimise scope, cost and timelines.
Provide expert IP advice for licensing, collaborations and spinouts, aligning patent positions with commercial objectives.
Manage IP portfolios and reporting, monitoring deadlines, risks, opportunities and cost forecasts across assigned technologies.
Contribute to governance, processes and continuous improvement of University-wide IP management systems and practices.
You may be a great fit if you:
Hold registration as a Patent Attorney in Australia, or an equivalent recognised jurisdiction.
Bring substantial experience drafting and prosecuting patents, ideally in life sciences or related technology domains.
Demonstrate strong command of patent law, IP strategy and portfolio management across complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
Translate complex scientific information into clear, commercially focused IP advice for non-specialist stakeholders.
Manage competing priorities and deadlines independently, while collaborating effectively with researchers and commercialisation colleagues.
