Role Summary:

As a Manager, Performance you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the (public,or private, or attribution) performance team including related projects, research and the development of analytics related to measurement and attribution of performance results of the total Fund, and investment strategies along their respective benchmarks. You will also help develop and implement new performance measurement methodologies and the further development of performance analytics to suit the evolving needs of CPP Investments.

Accountabilities & Qualifications:

Accountabilities

  • Reviews and owns the delivery of performance reports for investment groups and Management, conduct thorough analysis on performance results, explains performance results, investigates discrepancies, and brings issues to resolution.

  • Undertake ad hoc production of performance analysis to support Management reporting and investing department (e.g. historical benchmarking, compensation benchmark calculations, ad hoc composite/aggregated reporting, P&L reporting, FX reporting, attribution analysis, etc.).

  • Support the creation and update of the Performance Measurement and Reporting Standard, Performance Measurement Methodologies, and operational procedures.

  • Support the performance Product and Data Owners in Performance team in the execution of development road maps and BAU activities.

  • Lead team initiatives to improve existing processes by driving change through an innovative thinking mindset.

  • Evaluate processes and system capabilities and provide business cases to support recommended enhancements and/or new functionality for existing and new performance applications/processes.

  • Participate in the development of new performance metrics to meet performance monitoring needs of stakeholders and internal committees.

  • Lead and ensure the effective communication and execution of the team and Department’s cross-functional projects, system applications, operational capabilities to ensure value added processes and systems are developed to achieve objectives.

  • Develop and evolve roles and responsibilities for the performance measurement, attribution, monitoring and reporting activities, in a manner consistent with the business and strategic plans of the Finance department and the CPP Investments.


Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or graduate degree in related field.

  • 6+ year of relevant experience.

  • Relevant professional designation (CFA, CIPM, FRM, CPA, etc).

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Advanced knowledge of Python with a focus on analytical packages (e.g., Pandas, Numpy).

  • Advanced Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.)

  • Experience with Jupyter Notebook, Amazon Web Service, QuickSight, and SimCorp Dimension is considered an asset.

  • Strong understanding of performance measurement and performance attribution methodologies (i.e. time weighted vs. dollar weighted returns, arithmetic vs. geometric attribution, multi-currency & fixed-income attribution).
