Job Description
The Purchasing Intern participates in the Omni Care Internship Program, gaining hands-on experience in purchasing, receiving, inventory control, and vendor relations within a hotel environment. College seniors may be eligible for the Leader in Development (LID) Program based on performance.
Responsibilities:
Assist with processing purchase orders and monitoring order status to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
Support the Purchasing Department by maintaining accurate records, filing documents, and updating purchasing databases.
Assist in reviewing invoices, packing slips, and receiving documents for accuracy and completeness.
Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, product availability, and delivery schedules as directed.
Help track outstanding orders and follow up with vendors on delayed shipments.
Assist with inventory counts and inventory control projects as assigned.
Support month-end inventory and purchasing audits.
Organize and maintain purchasing files, contracts, and supplier documentation.
Assist in researching products, obtaining quotes, and comparing pricing from approved vendors.
Work closely with the purchasing staff to ensure proper documentation and inventory procedures are followed.
Participate in special projects and administrative tasks to support the Purchasing Department.
Requirements:
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college, university, or vocational program in Business, Hospitality Management, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Previous office, hospitality, or inventory experience preferred but not required.
