The Trades Generalist oversees and coordinates facility maintenance to ensure the safe operation and functionality of Human Services facilities and partner locations. This includes managing preventive maintenance schedules, coordinating repairs and renovations, and overseeing vendor relationships. The position also maintains records relating to safety audits, playground and classroom compliance, and vehicles.

We Require
- Two years of experience performing semi-skilled trades tasks
- High school diploma or GED
Other Requirements
- Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
- Must secure a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety
- Must be able to pass a medical exam that includes screening for TB, as required by Federal and State regulations, to be free of communicable disease, and must have received the following vaccinations: (MMR) Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Tetanus if not current, to assure no significant risk exists to the health or safety of others

- Proven experience in facility maintenance coordination
- Strong knowledge of building systems, equipment, and maintenance practices.

Job Contributions
- Coordinate Facility Maintenance activities, including the development and implementation of maintenance procedures and protocols to ensure effective operation
- Responsible for performing a wide range of repair and replacement tasks in Head Start classrooms to maintain Arizona Child Care Licensing requirements and Federal Head Start Performance Standards by performing handyman-type repairs in the classroom and playground. Operate various power tools, including saws, drills, and a flatbed truck with a lift
- Conduct regular inspections of the facilities/classrooms and playgrounds to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and compliance issues. Develop and maintain inspection checklists, vehicle records, track deficiencies, and ensure timely resolution. Install safety equipment as necessary
- Act as responder to emergency service requests to secure utilities and/or facilities and evaluate the severity of emergencies in order to request appropriate resources
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, invoices, maintenance logs, and equipment documentation. Prepare regular reports on maintenance activities, budget utilization, and performance metrics. Present findings and recommendations to the Facility Supervisor. Maintain vehicle fleet and associated records of preventative maintenance and emissions (compliant), keeping vehicles clean
- Coordinate classroom activities, including relocation, maintenance, and equipment updates, with partners and Head Start staff
- Meet with contractors, fire inspectors, and school representatives to complete maintenance and repair-related tasks or to collaborate on projects being done in conjunction with a school district
- Assist in moving classrooms and/or setting up new classrooms on an as-needed basis
- Manage the warehouse and supply room, keeping them organized and stocked
- Lift, assemble, transport, and deliver heavy furniture and/or supplies on a regular basis
Working Conditions
- Work is routinely performed in an office environment, which may require long periods of sitting, reading, and typing. Requires travel to program sites throughout Maricopa County. The position requires travel to and from various county, client, and contractor locations during the scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles for County business. Must be able to move and lift objects weighing up to 65 pounds.
