The Chief Investment Office is responsible for the Bank's wealth and asset management portfolios – including investment strategy (macroeconomics, equities, fixed income and foreign exchange), portfolio strategy, discretionary portfolio management (“DPM”), advisory portfolio management (“APM”), portfolio risk and performance, mutual and alternative funds due diligence and selection, and product management.
The Alternative Investments team is responsible for the identification (origination), selection, onboarding & due diligence, distribution and post-sales monitoring of third party, professionally managed, private market fund investment opportunities (including private equity, private credit, private co-investments, infrastructure and private real assets investments) and the discretionary portfolio management of such funds.
Responsibilities
The main functions of the Head of Alternative Investments include:
Leading and managing the CIO Alternative Investments team at the BOS and contribute to increasing the penetration of Private Markets investments amongst the bank’s clients.
Originating, sourcing and due diligence for Private Markets funds including open-ended and close-ended opportunities and maintaining a pipeline of Private Markets opportunities for clients.
Portfolio management services for Private Markets including discretionary and advisory portfolio management.
Performing investment and operational due diligence and assessment of fund providers, performing and leading Private Markets on-boarding workstreams, including but not limited to, financial, operational, tax and legal due diligence and the completion of relevant internal checklists and processes for on-boarding, all in compliance with internal BOS policies and procedures and regulatory expectations.
Reviewing and negotiating agreements, offering memoranda and documentation relating to the on-boarding and distribution of Private Markets Funds by BOS;
Managing and liaising with legal, compliance, tax advisors and other service providers for the negotiation and drafting of legal documentation relating to Private Markets.
Product ownership for private markets to ensure front-to-back alignment for the asset class at Bank of Singapore, including obtaining relevant approvals.
Preparing the internal BOS operations process and support for subscriptions, closings, capital calls, distributions, other related corporate actions and reporting processes for Private Markets Funds, as necessary.
Preparing materials, completing relevant checklists and managing the internal approval process for the on-boarding and distribution of Private Markets Funds by BOS (including for presentation to Investment Committees), in addition to obtaining external approvals from any relevant regulatory or other relevant bodies;
Managing BOS bank-wide marketing materials and distribution of Private Markets Funds to BOS front office staff including relevant product and risk disclosures.
Teach-ins and Presentations to Front Office and clients (including, but not limited to, launch materials, education materials, coordinating presentations by Private Markets Funds managers to front office staff or clients).
Providing insights relating to Private Markets for BOS clients in the context of changing macroeconomic and investment environment and representing CIO Alternative Investments as key spokesperson in client engagements & communication.
Supporting the education and training of internal parties, relationship managers and clients across Private Market and strategies and allocation to Private Markets to build fluent knowledge of Private Markets on the BOS platform.
After-sales for private markets investments including monitoring and reporting of Private Markets investment performance, any market-related activity impacting Private Markets and continual assessment of fund eligibility on the BOS platform. Formulating any required follow up with BOS stakeholders including but not limited to investment/product advisors, relationship managers or other internal stakeholders
Preparing investment memos related to Private Markets, fund updates and other thematic discussion topics from time to time.
Lead product innovation/strategic partnerships and manage relationships with fund houses.
Lead or participate in cross-departmental projects related to funds including other BOS regional offices and OCBC partners.
Qualifications
Strong investments background, with solid knowledge of private markets, including direct/ bespoke investments.
Preferable work experience in an asset management/private bank as a team lead
At least 15 years of fund distribution/investments experience with proven track record
Experience with and keen interest in digital projects and building out of digital solutions
Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to project a high level of professionalism, and effectively communicate with clients, portfolio managers and management in small and large settings.

Good, relevant under-graduate degree
CFA/CAIA holder &/or Masters degree in Finance from reputable university is strongly preferred
Good command of 2nd language preferred
