Job Description

Seeking a leader for our Indiana plant's 2nd shift with strong communication and team building skills who helps the operations team safely deliver quality parts on-time to customers.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

Leading the work being done by the production teams within their group. Clearly communicate plans and instructions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others as assigned. 

  • Ensure that decisions are made in a timely manner and are communicated with follow through and that consistent and effective communication takes place at all levels by keeping everyone informed and avoiding surprises, including recognizing and addressing employee performance problems in a timely manner and performing coaching and counseling with employees as necessary.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of company policies and procedures by understanding and following SPIs, SOPs and Work Instructions, ensuring that Work Instructions and SOPs are maintained in a meaningful and current form.
  • Make it easy for customers (internal and external) to do business with us through flexible methods and proper direction. 
  • Be the resource to enable the resolution of problems that are outside the ability of the team and ensure that adequate knowledge of product is available to workers and that technical assistance is provided when needed.
  • Identify how to match resources with objectives in line with annual budget and implement Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Schedule daily workload considering setup time, tooling problems, and available workers.  While assigning work, consider variety of job assignments, and clarify work requirements and duties, as needed. 
  • Work cooperatively with Quality Assurance, ensure use of blueprints with necessary instructions, and inspect work in process and completed work for conformance to specifications.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and inspections accurately and in a timely manner, including: preparing required production reports; inspecting equipment and areas for maintenance and repair and abuse; requesting materials and supplies (other than raw materials); production and time records.
  • Promote a positive attitude to instill confidence in other supervision. 
  • Facilitate CI teams under area of responsibility and monitor CI metrics and set goals to insure positive improvements. Conduct Kaizan & Kanban Events and Value Stream Mapping. 
  • Be a positive role model, provide encouragement and motivation, and ensure the team is provided a safe environment and uses safe working practices.
  • Encourage employee training and development and access training needs for both new and current employees and provide employees the necessary tools to perform their jobs effectively.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Directly supervises employees. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, which includes: include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

 

Schedule: This supervisory level position is overtime-exempt and will primarily work ten or more hours per day, four days per week based on business needs.  Primary schedule will be supporting 3PM– 11:30PM Monday through Friday.  May support operations as needed on weekends. 



Qualifications 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to build a team environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two or more years’ related experience in roll forming, metal fabrication and/or similar manufacturing environment
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft office products and ability to learn/use manufacturing software Global Shop Solutions.
  • US Person or meets ITAR/EAR requirements
  • Willingness to relocate within 45 miles of facility

 

 Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-5 years’ experience supervising or managing others
  • Knowledge of metal forming, tube bending, and/or various welding processes 
  • Advanced Lean Manufacturing experience
  • ISO/Quality experience
