Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting and supporting the organization’s overall financial health. This position is responsible for executing a broad range of accounting functions including journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, financial statement preparation, and financial analysis.

The Senior Accountant will collaborate across departments to ensure accounting accuracy, support audit and compliance processes, and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives. This role requires strong analytical skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & General Accounting

  • Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Analyze variances and trends in financial data to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement.
  • Assist with internal financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities.

Collaboration & Operational Support

  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable and Payroll departments to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Support external CPA review and audit processes by preparing schedules and responding to inquiries.
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to ensure proper accounting procedures and compliance.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Maintain internal controls and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Support special projects, system implementations, and reporting enhancements as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Team Support & Leadership

  • Mentor and provide support to accounting team members.
  • Serve as a resource for accounting-related questions and process guidance.
  • Perform additional duties and support financial projects as directed by MOS Leadership.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum of three years of accounting experience required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and audit support.
  • Experience working within physician practice management or multi-site healthcare organizations preferred.
