Job Description

Service Engineer is responsible for providing technical support, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and after-sales service for industrial automation systems. This role focuses on servo drives, servo motors, PLC-based control systems, motion control applications, and industrial networking solutions.

The position requires strong hands-on engineering skills, a customer-centric mindset, and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex automation issues in manufacturing environments to ensure maximum system uptime and customer satisfaction.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Impact on Business 

Technical Service & Support

• Perform installation, commissioning, and startup of industrial automation systems.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to servo drives, servo motors, PLCs, HMIs, motion control systems, and industrial networks.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and system health checks to ensure optimal performance.
• Analyze machine performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and productivity.
• Provide technical support to customers both remotely and on-site.

Motion Control & Servo Systems

• Configure, tune, and optimize servo drive and motion systems.
• Troubleshoot issues related to positioning accuracy, synchronization, and system dynamics.
• Analyze closed-loop control performance and optimize motion profiles.
• Support and maintain multi-axis motion control applications.

PLC & Automation Systems

• Diagnose and resolve PLC hardware and software issues.
• Review and modify PLC programs when necessary to improve system performance.
• Support integration between PLCs, servo systems, sensors, vision systems, and other field devices.
• Troubleshoot industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, EtherCAT, Modbus TCP, and IO-Link.

Customer Engagement

• Provide professional technical consultation and recommend suitable solutions to customers.
• Prepare service reports, root cause analysis, and corrective action documentation.
• Deliver customer training on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Build and maintain strong relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor.

Continuous Improvement

• Document service cases and maintain a knowledge base of technical solutions.
• Share technical knowledge and best practices with service and sales teams.
• Support product evaluations, proof-of-concept testing, and pilot implementations.
• Stay up to date with emerging automation technologies and industry developments.

Communication with internal and/or external Customers, Suppliers as well as Third Parties 

• Fluency in English is mandatory, with the ability to communicate effectively with regional support teams, international customers, machine builders, and global product specialists.
• Capable of conducting technical discussions, troubleshooting sessions, customer presentations, and training programs in English.
• Able to prepare professional service reports, root cause analyses, technical documentation, and email correspondence in English.
• Proficiency in Vietnamese is required to support local customers and ensure effective coordination.

Innovation and Change 

• Identify failures, perform root cause analysis, propose appropriate corrective actions, and implement improvement measures for Festo products.
• Develop, maintain, and execute test scenarios and simulations (after-sales) in the Festo Experience Center.
• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend necessary changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
 

REQUIREMENTS

Educational Background 

Bachelor’s Degree in:

  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Automation and Control Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering (with strong automation background)

Degree from a reputable university with strong engineering fundamentals.

Experience Requirements Preferred

  • Experience supporting manufacturing industries such as:
    • Electronics
    • Automotive
    • Packaging
    • Food & Beverage
    • Logistics Automation
    • Semiconductor

Advantageous Experience

  • Commissioning complex machinery
  • Multi-axis servo systems
  • Robot integration
  • Machine builder or OEM support
  • Customer-facing service role
