The appointees will provide support in (a) proactive promotion of student well-being through launching wellness and Special Educational Needs (SEN) related learning and development programs; (b) identification of wellness gaps and implementation of creative and effective initiatives tailored to the specific needs of Department; (c) administrative and logistical support on student affairs including counseling, student advising, co-curricular activities and internship opportunities, etc. (d) empowerment and mobilization of faculty/staff in Department to address students’ personal needs and embrace diversity and inclusiveness; (e) cultivation of a caring and mutually supportive culture across department to enrich student life beyond academic concerns; and (f) intervention and stabilization of emotion for students, faculty and staff in crisis situations; and (g) other duties as assigned by supervisors.

As supportive community builders, the appointee is expected to work in close collaboration with academic departments and non-academic offices to help students resolve personal concerns and acquire the coping skills, attitudes and abilities and provide insights that will enable them to meet the challenges of student life.  

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in psychology, counseling, social work or education with at least 3 years of post-qualification work experience relevant in the area of youth development. Applicants with less experience may be considered at the appointment of Student Wellness Officers. They should be fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English.  Excellent communication and sophisticated interpersonal skills, knowledge in counseling skills and therapeutic treatment, as well as group work and crisis intervention skills are required.  Preference will be given to those with demonstrated ability to work with students at tertiary educational level, and have enthusiasm for enhancing the educational goals for university students.  Experience or knowledge in business disciplines or student placement would be a plus. 

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
(Duration: 2 years, renewable)
