• Clerk Grade: Level 9/10. Base salary $133,348 p.a. to $146,945 p.a. plus 12% superannuation

About the team

The Public Guardian can be appointed by a court or tribunal to make health and lifestyle decisions for people who are unable to on their own, or with support. These include decisions such as where a person might live, their medical and dental treatment, health care, and other services. It also provides information and support to private and enduring guardians, service providers and the wider community.

The Partnership, Review and Project and Practice teams provide systemic advocacy, stakeholder engagement, community education, and support guardianship practice through policy, guideline and learning resource development. The team is supported by the Assistant Public Guardian, Practice, Advocacy and Strategy.

About the role

This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the student placement program within the Public Guardian Division.

As the Manager, Student Placements, you will be responsible for the end-to-end coordination of student placements, ensuring each experience is well-structured, compliant and meaningful. You will work closely with universities, placement supervisors and internal stakeholders to design and deliver high-quality learning opportunities that align with organisational priorities and professional standards.

In this role, you will act as the central point of contact for education providers, managing relationships, coordinating placement agreements and resolving issues as they arise. You will support students throughout their placement journey, including onboarding, creating learning plans and facilitating access to development opportunities, while also ensuring appropriate supervision arrangements are in place. You will also supervise students as a qualified Social Worker with eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Alongside program oversight, you will lead decision-making, advocacy and complex case coordination for customers under guardianship. You will also monitor placement outcomes, identify trends and drive continuous improvement to strengthen the overall program.

About you

You are an experienced and values-driven professional with a strong background in social work, student supervision or service delivery.

You thrive in a complex environment where you need to manage multiple priorities, build strong partnerships and maintain high compliance standards. You are equally confident supporting students as you are engaging with senior stakeholders and education providers.

You will bring:

• Experience managing or coordinating programs, placements, or service delivery in a complex environment
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across diverse groups
• Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and manage competing demands
• A commitment to high-quality, customer-focused outcomes
• Strong communication and administrative skills, including managing documentation and reporting
• A collaborative, ethical and professional approach aligned with public sector values

• Ability to travel across NSW to support regional placements and stakeholders
