Job Description
The Manager – FX Management is a key part of the Legal Entity Management team based in our Jersey office, within American Express’ Global Treasury Organisation. Managing a small team of FX Analysts, you will be responsible for the daily processes that manage American Express’ Foreign Exchange Exposure and set FX rates. You’ll play a key role for the global organization by carefully monitoring and managing risk and ensuring we fulfill our commitments to our customers.
Reporting to the Senior Manager FX, you will:
Take responsibility for the global management of FX exposure risk in relation to cross-border cardmember spending:
- Review and approval of the following daily FX exposure management processes, ensuring completion within agreed timelines:
- Forecasting inbound and outbound card member spending for over 26 currencies, using trend analysis data from internal systems and reports.
- Reconciling daily forecasts to actuals from the Exposure Management Platform (EMP), and researching any significant variances.
- Daily Exposure trade instructions for execution by the Treasury FX dealing team in the UK,
- Ensure compliance with all internal controls and FX applicable regulations
- Support enhanced reporting requirements and analysis requests as required
Take responsibility for the daily setting of global FX rates for conversion of cardmember spend using the Rate Selection System (RSS).
- Review and approval for the daily FX rate setting processes and requirements:
- Ensure rates are set in compliance with Customer Terms & Conditions.
- Utilise LSEG Workspace & AXP proprietary systems to source and validate rates.
- Ensure submission of rates to downstream systems on a timely basis.
- Review and approval for the monthly Corporate Standard rate setting process.
- Maintain records in accordance with internal operational controls.
- Support Customer Service teams in relation to any card member/ customer FX rate enquiries.
- Support broader American Express business lines enquiries regarding FX rate setting.
- Support projects involving the ongoing maintenance and development of RSS by American Express Technologies teams.
- Support overall management and control of Jersey Treasury Operations
- Oversee fulfilment of PRSA/RCSA internal operational control processes for FX Exposure Management and Rate Selection processes.
- Cross-train and provide cover for Senior Manager FX, and Funding Manager as required.
- Contribute to any Treasury projects relevant to Jersey managed legal entities.
Please Note: Due to operational constraints, working on Jersey and International Bank Holidays will be required on a rotational basis in return for time off in lieu.
To be successful in the role you will:
- Hold a University degree or equivalent professional qualification or have a commensurate level of experience as a Treasury professional, with a good understanding of Foreign Exchange and FX Exposures.
- Highly numerate and accurate with demonstrable attention to detail is essential.
- Experience in financial controllership or accounting would be an advantage.
- Experience of working as part of a small team is desirable.
- A highly motivated self-starter who can take the lead in identifying and resolving issues and developing solutions
- Experienced in managing and motivating teams
- Proven in your ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and be able to deliver results
- An excellent communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised with strong analytical skills
- Good overall level of experience with MS Office applications with proven proficiency in Excel; exposure to working with and managing in-house applications would be considered an asset.
- Ability to adapt and embrace changing technology environments.
