Title: Administrative Assistant � Middle School Principal

Reports To: Principal

Takes Direction From: Principal/Assistant Principal

Schedule/Calendar: 7.5 hours/day    37.5 hours/week      261 days/year

 

Summary: Performs secretarial function using specialized knowledge of district and building policies, practices, and procedures. Supports the principal by maintaining confidential material and building records, accurately completing correspondence, and preparing budgetary requisitions. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Observe all board policies and administrative regulations regarding attendance, confidentiality and community relations.
  • Communicate and schedule building use with Community Ed. Maintain and compile monthly calendar of events, and monthly building use calendar.
  • Provide information and assistance to teachers, students, assistant principals.
  • Answer phones and schedule all appointments and conferences for principal.
  • Coordinate, collect, and process all materials for the opening and closing of each school year. 
  • Maintain master activities account book, petty cash account, and compile monthly reports.
  • Prepare individual account reconciliation reports on a monthly basis for activity accounts.
  • Distribute key and build access cards to staff.
  • Assist principal with budget and prepare all purchase orders for approval by principal.
  • Type, distribute and collect teacher assignment notifications, teacher chaperone lists and extra duty paperwork.
  • Entry of activity dates and times for next school year's calendar.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Education and/or Certification Required: 

  • High School Diploma 

 

Experience Needed: 

  • Two years' office experience (preferably in a school setting)
