Overview
The Senior Caseworker plans, manages, and facilitates programs to ensure that comprehensive health or social services are available, accessible, affordable, and effective for all clients and their families according to city, state and federal guidelines.
Essential Functions
1 Manages, plans, and monitors the treatment functions responsible for providing direct counseling and case management services to clients.
2 Makes budget recommendations and monitors and controls program budget to ensure that expenditures remain within allotted amount.
3 Develops program strategies, policies and procedures to provide and promote effective treatment methods, which conform to all legal requirements.
4 Monitors, evaluates, and reviews program performance and reports progress of performance indicators to manager to effectively assess the program's effectiveness.
5 Manages the daily operation of program to ensure that the program is operating in the most effective and efficient manner possible.
6 Develops and maintains program policies and procedures to meet city, state, and federal guidelines
7 Manages program staff by hiring personnel, assigning and monitoring work, and ensuring that staff is properly trained to ensure that program operates efficiently.
8 Conducts group skills training for clients and their families to teach coping and other life skills to enable clients and families to effectively manage problems.
9 Maintains effective relationships with other social service agencies, volunteer groups, and various boards and committees to stay abreast of social services offered, recruit volunteers, and solicit donations.
10 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
1 Knowledge of social services and related agencies.
2 Knowledge of social and health issues.
3 Ability to supervise social services and clerical staff.
4 Ability to administer social and health services.
5 Ability to counsel clients.
6 Ability to make presentations and deliver information effectively.
7 Ability to research health topics and health education programs.
8 Ability to identify public health issues and make recommendations.
9 Ability to assist and direct various community members and patrons.
10 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
11 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Sociology field.
EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years of experience in involving individual, family, or group counseling; social service program development, implementation, and evaluation/or group life skills training.
EQUIVALENCY(IES):
A high school diploma/GED plus six (6) years of experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
An associate’s degree in any field plus four (4) years of the required will meet the education and experience requirements.
A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a non-specified field plus one (1) year of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
A master’s degree (or higher) in a specified field will meet the education and experience requirements.
LICENSE(S) and/or CERTIFICATION(S):
Valid driver’s license with good driving record
OTHER REQUIREMENT(S):
Personal vehicle
Polygraph and Background check
No felony or class A misdemeanor convictions.
No class B misdemeanor convictions in the last ten (10) years.
No family violence convictions.
Cannot currently be on deferred adjudication for any felony, class A or class B misdemeanor.
Salary Range
The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
