About Our Job

Do you prefer working on your own, have a knack for customer service, and are tired of those pesky Florida Mosquitos? Join our Mosquito Management department in ridding the county of known pests. We have three positions: our Field, Laboratory, and Mosquito-borne Disease Inspection Aides. These opportunities are temporary/seasonal, running from 05/04/2026 - 11/27/2026, working Monday - Friday (no weekends), and they have a starting pay of $19.00/hr.

Field Aides

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting mosquito surveillance in county ditches and other water sources.

  • Treating the ditches with environmentally safe larvicide by use of truck-mounted equipment.

Laboratory Aides

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting mosquito surveillance by setting and collecting mosquito traps.

  • Identifying adult mosquitoes using microscopes.

  • Working with our sentinel chicken program.

  • Occasional data entry.

Mosquito-borne Disease Surveillance Aide

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Mosquito-borne Disease Surveillance

  • Collection of specialized traps and sampling chicken sentinels

  • Inspection of all types of mosquito habitats

  • Pesticide applications

Work Hours:

  • Seasonal/Temporary, 05/04/2026 - 11/27/2026

  • Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (no weekends!)

  • Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License by start date.

Physical Demands:  Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening:  This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.  An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

About Everything Else

  • Interviews will begin the week of April 6th and continue until all positions are filled. (Date subject to change based on business needs.)

  • Potential start date begins May 4th, 2026.

  • Employment duration is May 4th through Nov 27th, 2026.

Pay: $19.00/hr
