JOB OVERVIEW
Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO) in support of the 86th Medical Group (MDG) & its geographic area of responsibility Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) program. You will provide Disability Evaluation System (DES) guidance following established DoD guidelines, data collection, medical coordination, Service member/commander/stakeholder advising, and procedural work related to Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) processing and Temporary Disability Retired List (TDRL) reevaluations following applicable instructions, regulations, and directives. Provides liaison support/services to active duty and Reserve Component (RC) members (Air Force Reserve Component (AFRC) and Air National Guard (ANG) and commanders on program requirements, military benefits, legal rights, and the appeals process.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Counsel individual military members on their rights and responsibilities when their cases go before medical/physical evaluation boards.
- Provide liaison and administrative support and services, coordinate patient travel requirements and/or aeromedical evacuation, TDRL, fitness for duty determinations, and other program requirements.
- Provide notification of the need to the duty member undergoing the MEBs, plan, and complete necessary MEB process activities to evaluate an active-duty member’s fitness for duty.
- Obtain, assemble, and forward all documents, and records required for MEB processing.
- Assist the medical professional staff and other staff members with the regulatory and procedural aspects of profiling and disability processing.
- Provide counseling and explain entitlements, benefits, and responsibilities.
- Maintain practical knowledge and understanding of TRICARE: contract language, program policies, and reference manuals; regional healthcare issues and initiatives; and other federal health benefits programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree.
- Two years of similar/equivalent work experience in the medical field (i.e. Case Management.)
- Maintain training and certification as it applies to the PEBLO position.
- Proficiency English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
