Job description

The Solutions / Technical Expert (TE) – Core Storage & Data Modernization Solutions works closely with the India regional sales and presales teams, leveraging deep technical expertise to design and position compelling solutions that address customers’ mission-critical data and application challenges. The TE is expected to have strong technical depth across Hitachi Vantara’s portfolio, including Virtual Storage Platform One (Block), VSP One File, VSP One SDS, and VSP 360 management solutions, enabling effective solutioning and customer engagement.

The Technical Expert role is a highly skilled technical sales position, recognized as both a subject matter expert and trusted advisor with a strong understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, market dynamics, and the competitive landscape. In addition to working closely with the India Sales and Presales organizations, the TE acts as a strategic liaison between field teams and Solutions Leads / Product Management teams, ensuring alignment between customer requirements, field feedback, and product strategy. Key responsibilities include leading customer solution demonstrations, driving proof-of-value (POV) engagements, and supporting technical validation activities that accelerate customer decision-making.

The TE also plays a critical leadership role within the India region by championing pipeline growth, supporting revenue closure across the Core Storage and Data Modernization portfolio, participating in regional technical and business initiatives, and contributing to the successful execution of strategic programs.

The Role

  • Be the primary technical champion to drive the adoption of Hitachi Vantara technologies to solve our customer’s biggest Data and Application challenges.
  • Provide deep technical expertise on the Core Storage, File Storage and Data management solutions portfolio.
  • Participate in all Presales phases including RFI / RFP, Solution Reviews, Workshops, POC/POV and other customer interactions requiring technical assessment.
  • Engage and drive favorable positioning for Hitachi Vantara in competitive engagements.
  • Establish and maintain core connections with product and engineering teams to represent the fields needs with respect to products and ensure that the field is kept up to date
  • Represent Hitachi Vantara at a strategic level in industry events and in social media.

What you'll Bring

  • A minimum of 15 years’ IT experience, with at least 10 years spent supporting sales in a High Value solution-oriented company in Core Storage and Data Management solutions.
  • An excellent knowledge of Block Storage solutions, File Storage (NAS), Data Protection and Management technologies.
  • Experience in Converged and Hyperconverged platforms and solutions is also desirable.
  • Good knowledge of Customer’s mission critical workloads, VMware and RedHat based virtualization platforms and Containerized workloads.
  • Ability to conduct Customer value workshops, participate and present in customer events, EBCs and conduct Demos clearly articulating value for customers.
  • A clear understanding of a solutions sales approach and value-added selling. Experience in Challenger Sales is strongly preferred.
  • This is a senior individual contributor role working at India regional level.
