Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Part of the QC Laboratory Data Group, this position is responsible for receiving samples into the QC Laboratory, coordinating analyses performed by outside contract laboratories, certificate of analysis generation, reviewing QC Laboratory data, and releasing materials and products from the QC Laboratory. Follows established Thorne Research procedures to correctly, efficiently, promptly, and accurately disposition Thorne Research products. The QC Laboratory Receiving Data Associate performs specific duties
and responsibilities based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) ensuring the consistency and quality of the product.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs FT-NIR analyses, as required, on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products; reviews and approves NIR results in LIMS.
• Assembles data from QC Laboratory.
• Regularly “audits the wall” and audits LIMS for releases.
• Creates certificates of analysis (COAs).
• Verifies that all testing has been completed prior to forwarding batch records to QADC.
• Understands company specification sheets (FPSs, RMSs, etc.).
• Coordinates submission and testing of samples requiring analysis by an outside contract laboratory (OCL).
• Receives results from OCLs, verifies correct testing was performed, and enters/approves results in LIMS.
• Corresponds with OCL representatives for rush analyses and other inquiries.
• Assembles orders for QC Laboratory supplies requested by QC Laboratory management.
• Produces accurate and consistent results; attention to detail is essential.
• Prioritizes work and follows through with plans under minimal supervision.
• Responds to emails in a timely and professional manner.

The employee follows instructions, both verbal and written, and communicates effectively with supervisors and fellow employees.

• Reasoning Ability: Employee can solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and can interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Computer and Technical Skills: Employee can learn to use company’s computer to perform lab functions and to accomplish the responsibilities of the job.
