Position: Maintenance Engineer / Technician
We are seeking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer / Technician to join our team in Mashonaland West (Zimbabwe).
Technical Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for heavy mining equipment (e.g., dump trucks, excavators, bulldozers, graders, and auxiliary machinery).
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues, and define appropriate repair actions to minimize equipment downtime.
Supervise daily workshop activities, ensuring maintenance tasks are carried out according to procedures and technical specifications.
Collaborate with operations, planning, and warehouse teams to ensure the availability of spare parts, tools, and consumables.
Monitor equipment performance indicators and implement improvement measures to increase reliability and reduce costs.
Support the development of maintenance plans and schedules aligned with production needs.
Keep accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, interventions, and equipment history.
Safety Responsibilities
Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with EPSA’s safety standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
Promote a strong safety culture in the workshop and field maintenance areas.
Conduct risk assessments, ensure proper lock-out/tag-out procedures, and supervise the correct use of PPE.
Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents immediately.
Participate in daily pre-start meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of safe work practices.
Environmental Responsibilities
Comply with EPSA’s environmental policies and site-specific requirements.
Ensure proper management and disposal of lubricants, filters, and waste materials.
Prevent and respond to potential spills or leaks from equipment and maintenance activities.
Promote clean and organized work areas to minimize environmental impact.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance of heavy mining or earthmoving equipment or relevant experience with EPSA Group.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems for mobile equipment.
Experience with maintenance management systems (CMMS) and equipment reliability programs.
Other requirements
Experience in open-pit mining operations or large-scale earthmoving projects.
Knowledge of OEM procedures (e.g., Komatsu, Caterpillar, Hitachi, Volvo).
Familiarity with HSE standards and maintenance planning practices.
Experience working in remote or international project environments.
