Role

We’re looking for a Compliance Consultant to join Mallesons specialist Compliance and Governance Risk Advisory offering, Owl Advisory.

Join a small, fast‑growing consultancy that’s only two years in and already partnering with a strong blue‑chip client base. Coming in at this stage means you’ll help shape the future of the practice as it grows, with a contract through to June 2027 and the potential to extend.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their compliance career who is curious, eager to learn, and ready to take on a wide range of work.

Reporting to the General Manager, Head of Compliance Advisory, you’ll support clients across the full spectrum of compliance and governance risk matters - ranging from systems and controls design, to regulatory investigations, policy uplift, and advisory projects.

Detail

The consulting engagements cover a broad range of risk and compliance activities and needs vary across client engagements. Types of work include:

  • Advisory: Provide expert advice on transformation projects, regulatory implementation and remediation programs.
  • Policies & procedures: Lead reviews and development of risk and compliance frameworks, standards, and policies.
  • Assurance: Compliance monitoring and assurance activities, document the existence and adequacy of controls.
  • Regulatory implementation: Support clients complete regulatory impact assessments and complete implementation of regulatory change
  • Business development: Participate in business development activities, including client presentations, proposal development, and networking events, to expand our client base and promote our compliance consulting services.

Your enthusiasm for the risk and compliance space will be valued, and you’ll bring an innovative, adaptable mindset with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast‑moving environment.

As a thoughtful problem‑solver who enjoys tackling complex work with clear deliverables, you will bring:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in compliance or risk - ideally within a domestic bank or well‑known investment bank, or gained in a consulting environment with complex regulatory/stakeholder engagement
  • Strong stakeholder and client‑relationship skills, with the ability to build trust and communicate confidently
  • Excellent analytical capability, including the ability to interpret regulations and apply them to varied client scenarios
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to articulate findings, recommendations and assessments with precision
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities

This role is ideal for someone looking to build deep foundations in regulatory compliance while growing within a high‑performing consultancy. You’ll work across diverse, high‑impact matters, learn from experienced senior consultants, and develop both technical and advisory skills early in your career.
