Job Opportunity
The city of Las Vegas Youth Development & Social Innovation Department, Strong Future Youth Employment Program is seeking qualified interns working age to 24 years of age for the workforce development program. The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list for future openings. 
 
What are the requirements for this position?

  • First Aid and CPR Certification at time of hire/reclassification.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Student must sign an agreement at the time of hire.
  • Completion of the Strong Future Las Vegas employability training is required in order to be eligible for employment.

Position Summary

This position performs a variety of career and routine, entry-level work under close supervision. This position is an education-to-work pipeline that provides hands-on experience in law enforcement, law, technology, engineering, maintenance, graphic design, communications, the arts and recreation to name a few. Some job assignments under the Strong Future Program are credentialed (earn and learn).

Duties include but are not limited to:
  1. Ensures safety of participants during program events and activities. 
  2. Provides assistance to full-time or part-time classified staff or designee in assigned areas of work.
  3. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Program Schedule and Pay 

Participants will be paid $15.00 per hour and work nine-hour days. In addition, high school participants are required to attend a mandatory three-hour training session on Thursdays.

High School Students

  • Work Schedule: Monday – Wednesday (nine-hour days)
  • Thursday: Required Training Day(three hours)
     (Financial literacy, career seminars, professional development workshops, and hands-on training)

College Students

Participants will be paid $17.00 per hour and work eight-hour days according to the schedules below:

  • Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday (eight-hour days) 

Pre-Employment Requirements

PLEASE NOTE:

  • All hired participants will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening prior to beginning work.
  • Participants who are 18 years of age and older will also be required to pass a background investigation in addition to the drug screening.

  1. One (1) current letter of recommendation (dated within the last two months)
  1. Must be on official letterhead or include the recommender’s signature
