Position Summary:
F5 is seeking a dynamic Senior Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) to lead technical content creation, product evangelism, and enablement initiatives with a primary focus on AI security, WAAP, and DevSecOps. This role combines deep technical expertise with creative storytelling to demystify and promote F5's portfolio, including BIG-IP, NGINX, and F5 Distributed Cloud (XC), in the context of AI-driven defenses, secure API ecosystems, and DevSecOps engineering workflows.
You will proactively master emerging technologies, develop compelling assets that accelerate adoption, and own virtual/hardware lab environments. While centered on AI security (e.g., protecting LLMs and agentic models with tools like F5 AI Guardrails and AI Red Teaming), API security (e.g., OWASP-guided protections), and DevSecOps (e.g., GitHub automation, tool development, vulnerable app creation, and demo setups), the role requires adaptability to shifting business priorities. This includes expanding into broader F5 solutions like application delivery, application security, platform orchestration, XOps integrations, and all deployment models (hardware, virtual, cloud-native, hybrid, multi-cloud). As priorities evolve, you will seamlessly pivot to support these areas, ensuring F5's leadership in modern infrastructures without extended ramp-up periods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solution Development & Enablement
- Design and implement scalable lab environments (hardware-based, virtual, and cloud-native) for demonstrating AI security scenarios, API protection use cases, and DevSecOps workflows, including extensive demo setups and vulnerable app development to simulate real-world threats.
- Create demo kits, sample configurations, enablement playbooks, and agentic AI tools focused on AI security (e.g., F5 AI Guardrails, AI Red Teaming, LLM Model Security and Observability, Secure AI Model Inferencing, Shadow AI Detection and Mitigation), WAAP, and DevSecOps engineering (e.g., GitHub automation for CI/CD pipelines).
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and Field teams to capture evolving customer needs, building reusable assets that adapt to broader priorities like application delivery optimization and XOps workflows across all F5-supported deployment models.
- Technical Content Creation
- Author and publish in-depth content, including configuration guides, solution briefs, demo videos, blog posts, interactive dashboards, branded reports, and web-based tools that highlight AI security innovations (e.g., red teaming simulations), API security best practices (e.g., guided by OWASP API Security and OWASP LLM), and DevSecOps efficiencies (e.g., automated tool development).
- Deliver engaging presentations at customer briefings, partner workshops, industry events, and analyst sessions, translating complex AI/ML integrations, API vulnerabilities, and DevSecOps processes into business value.
- Produce deliverables in various formats (e.g., real-time dashboards for AI threat monitoring, branded strategic reports on API trends, technical web tools for DevSecOps simulations) to drive adoption and provide actionable insights, incorporating frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK and OWASP LLM for comprehensive coverage.
- DevSecOps & Innovation
- Build automated, scalable test/demo frameworks using Python, Terraform, Ansible, GitHub automation, and AI/ML tools to streamline AI security validations, API protection workflows, and operational intelligence.
- Develop new tools, vulnerable apps, and extensive demo setups to showcase F5 AI Security, WAAP, AI Guardrails, AI red teaming exercises, DevSecOps-driven playbooks and any integrations effectively
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps engineering, and cloud-native integrations, while remaining flexible to adapt to emerging priorities in application delivery, platform management, and XOps across hardware, virtual, and distributed deployments.
- Field Engagement & Advocacy
- Serve as a trusted advisor in field enablement, webinars, customer engagements, and competitive discussions, emphasizing AI security (e.g., model poisoning defenses via F5 AI Guardrails), App and API security (e.g., OWASP LLM compliance), and DevSecOps benefits (e.g., GitHub-automated toolchains).
- Gather field feedback to refine content and align with customer priorities, product roadmaps, and broader F5 portfolio needs, such as app security scaling and XOps orchestration.
- Evangelize F5's differentiated value in AI-driven cybersecurity, API ecosystems, and DevSecOps, while adapting to business shifts toward comprehensive solutions like holistic application delivery and platform resilience, including work with frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK and MITRE ATLAS for AI threats.
- Adaptability to Business Priorities
- Proactively monitor and adapt to changing organizational demands, expanding expertise into adjacent areas like application delivery, app security, platform innovations, and XOps without requiring extended ramp-up.
- Support all F5 deployment models (e.g., on-premises hardware, virtual editions, cloud-native, hybrid/multi-cloud) to ensure seamless transitions as priorities evolve, fostering agility in threat research, operational intelligence, and strategic insights, including future AI products and solutions F5 may support.
Required Qualifications & Competencies:
- 8+ years in technical marketing, solution engineering, or QA roles within networking, cloud infrastructure, security, or AI domains.
- Proven hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP, NGINX, Distributed Cloud (XC), or equivalent technologies, with a focus on AI security, API security, and DevSecOps.
- Deep expertise in L2-L7 protocols, traffic management, WAF, OWASP API Security, OWASP LLM, MITRE ATT&CK, MITRE ATLAS (for AI threats), and other relevant frameworks for guiding AI/ML applications and API defenses.
- Proficiency with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid/multi-cloud setups, including containerization (Kubernetes, Docker) and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Strong skills in Python scripting, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub automation, DevSecOps engineering (e.g., developing new tools, vulnerable apps, and extensive demo setups), and AI/ML integration for security and observability.
- Familiarity with modern application patterns, web development (e.g., Node.JS, React, HTML5), and virtualization/orchestration (VMware, OpenShift).
- Excellent written, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to create diverse deliverables like dashboards, branded reports, and web-based tools that bridge technical details and business outcomes.
- Demonstrated adaptability to evolving priorities, with experience pivoting across app delivery, security, platform, and XOps in dynamic environments, including hands-on work with F5 AI products like AI Guardrails, AI Red Teaming, LLM Security, and Shadow AI Detection.

- Proactively creates compelling content and tools that drive adoption, positioning F5 as a leader while remaining flexible to business changes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience contributing to technical blogs, developer communities, open-source projects, or AI/ML research in security contexts.
- Prior customer-facing roles such as sales engineer, professional services consultant, solution engineer, quality assurance engineer, support engineer, or equivalent.
- Background in agentic AI tool building, threat research, or operational intelligence, with deliverables like interactive dashboards and branded reports.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications in AI/security a plus.

The annual base pay for this position is: $138,400.00 - $207,600.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
