What We Are Looking For
In this position, you will perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation and preventative maintenance activities on a wide range of hospital plant and facility equipment with an emphasis on mechanical systems and rotating equipment.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Monitor overall building operations through the Building Automation System (BAS) and ensure systems operate efficiently and safely.
- Respond to alarms, equipment failures and emergency conditions, taking appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance with minimal supervision.
- Troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical systems including pumps, motors, conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, compressors and associated equipment.
- Perform alignment, assembly, installation and replacement of mechanical equipment and components.
- Conduct inspections and operational testing on HVAC systems, generators, mechanical equipment and related infrastructure.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and control diagrams.
- Perform daily building rounds and document findings, deficiencies and corrective actions.
- Support operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, air handling units, exhaust systems, hot water and steam systems, emergency generators, sump and sewage systems, fire protection and life safety systems.
- Perform minor plumbing, electrical and mechanical repairs within applicable regulations and skill set.
- Escort contractors and monitor work to ensure compliance with hospital safety and security procedures.
- Record maintenance activities, inspections and repairs within the CMMS system.
- Respond to occupant concerns and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Support equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You Bring to the Role
- Must possess an active Ontario Millwright Certificate of Qualification (433A Industrial Mechanic/Millwright) with Red Seal endorsement preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of commercial, industrial or institutional maintenance experience.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience with rotating equipment, pumps, motors and mechanical systems.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, pumps and building mechanical equipment.
- Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Building Automation Systems (BAS) is considered an asset.
- Welding and fabrication experience is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance practices and safe work procedures.
- Computer proficiency and experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated good attendance and performance record.
- Commitment to maintaining a healthy and safe workplace for staff, patients, families and visitors.
Work Schedule:
The successful candidate will work a regular Monday to Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
