Design Engineer - Packaging Mechanical
Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Design Associate is to provide engineering and design solutions as assigned to support project deliverables and schedule
Design Associates work with other design staff to grow in their knowledge in mechanical engineering design concepts and project delivery
Responsibilities include various engineering, design and drafting tasks utilizing the applicable drafting software to accommodate the project schedule
The position of Design Associate II is a position of expanding responsibility for assigned project designs, coordination, and associated construction administration
Job Responsibilities: Collaborates with senior staff to ensure alignment with owner program requirements and mechanical/plumbing standards Reviews and applies relevant codes and industry standards (IBC, ASHRAE, NFPA) Helps develop and document the basis of design, including assumptions and key decisions Supports selection of cost‑effective systems and products for client facilities Assists with construction cost validation and value engineering options Uses design software to create and integrate project models and documents Applies energy code requirements, including insulation values and compliance software Develops skills in load calculations and mechanical equipment selection/scheduling Builds proficiency in designing and sizing HVAC, water, steam, and distribution systems Produces complete construction documents, including plans, details, schedules, and control diagrams To thrive in this role, you'll need: Bachelor of Architecture or Engineering degree required
Degree from accredited curriculum (NCARB or ABET) preferred
Engineer in Training (EiT/FE) Certification preferred Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds
Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information
The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear
