You will shape news content for our audiences across the North West, bring original ideas for stories and treatments and your experience in news and excellent editorial judgement will help to motivate and develop a team of reporters to produce exceptional output across digital platforms.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Creative and consistent management of content across primarily online and digital, as well as close working with colleagues in TV and radio to help stories find their widest audience.
- Support reporters to create compelling stories on the BBC website and across other platforms.
- News edit, sub and publish stories on BBC News Online, bring in original ideas, work with the wider digital team to maximise social media impact, and collaborate with colleagues in radio and television to deliver multi-platform stories.
- Help to lead our team of journalists who produce content for local, regional, national and international audiences.
- Help colleagues in the wider North-West newsroom and take up wider newsgathering roles to ensure working in a multi-platform way.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Substantial news experience showcasing developed judgement
- Ability and understanding to deliver news across multiple platforms
- A solid knowledge of the North West’s news landscape
- Some experience as a daily news editor and sub-editor
- Excellent people skills to support and sometimes challenge reporters of varying levels of experience and skill
- Knowledge of social media both as a newsgathering tool and a way of promoting our content.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Ability to use BBC story creation tools, such as Optimo, Dira, Open Media and Jupiter
- Ability to think quickly and change priorities with composure
- A commitment to develop yourself and those around you
