Job Duties
The Community Navigator is a member of the Learning Community Center (LCC) team, responsible for recruiting and working with families in South Omaha in order to connect them to the LCC program and other educational and community services. The LCC program empowers parents with skills and knowledge in order to make their home a better learning environment and become even better role models for their children. The Community Navigator is supervised by the LCC Program Manager.
Recruit and Enroll New Parent Participants

Recruits parents throughout the community who are interested in the LCC program and screens them to determine program eligibility.

Completes intake forms and conducts evaluations with parent participant.

Helps orient newly enrolled participants to the LCC program structure and rules, as well as participants’ right and responsibilities.
School and Community Engagement

Immerses self within the community school fabric to build rapport and relationships.

Represents the Learning Community Center program to individuals in the community; functions as a liaison between the program and the community-at-large.

Coordinates and presents program information at community events, meetings, schools, etc. to create awareness of the Learning Community Center and its services.
Promotion and Tracking of Special Programs

Recruits, promotes and enrolls families in the extra programs offered through the LCC, as well as programs offered outside of the LCC, identifying which programs would be most beneficial to them.

Helps plan special events and offerings at the center under the direction of the LCC Program Manager.

Additional tasks may be assigned as needed to support the business, and responsibilities may evolve to meet the changing needs of the organization.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

Bilingual English/Spanish required.

Ability to work a flexible schedule as business needs dictate.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate group presentations.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, organizing time and details.

Computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets, or willingness to learn.

Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance required, a clean driving record and completion of the Mini Bus Driver Safety class required.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships and rapport within the community, with an understanding of diverse populations and backgrounds.
