At our Lancaster and Lebanon campuses, we operate our own outpatient orthopedic surgery center—NPSC—where we perform a wide range of surgeries, including total joint replacements, using the most advanced techniques available.

Summary/Objective:
This is a hands-on orthopedic clinical role focused on casting, splinting, and direct patient care in an orthopedic setting.
The Orthopedic Technician (OTC) works closely with physicians to support diagnosis and treatment by performing skilled orthopedic procedures and clinical tasks. This role is not entry-level and requires prior clinical training or certification relevant to orthopedic care.
Essential Functions:

- Application, removal, and reapplication of casts and splints under physician direction
- Durable Medical Equipment (DME) fitting and patient instruction
- Suture and staple removal (after provider assessment)
- Performing sterile and non-sterile dressings
- Assisting physicians during orthopedic exams and procedures
- Preparing and maintaining orthopedic supplies and equipment
- Ensuring compliance with OSHA and Joint Commission (TJC) standards
Clinical Support Duties:
- Rooming patients and preparing them for examination
- Obtaining and documenting vital signs and medical history in EMR
- Assisting with injections using sterile technique
- Supporting patient mobility (ambulation/transfers)
- Retrieving and reviewing prior imaging
- Providing clear patient education related to orthopedic care
Other Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Stock and prepare exam rooms
- Assist with referrals and order entry (labs, imaging, etc.)
- Support clinic workflow and patient experience
- Perform other assigned clinical or administrative tasks

Required Qualifications:
To be considered, candidates must meet at least one of the following:
- NBCOT certification (Certified Orthopedic Technician) OR certification-eligible
- Radiologic Technologist (RT/RTR) with willingness to train in orthopedic procedures
- Completion of a formal orthopedic technician training program
AND:
- High school diploma or GED
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Demonstrated ability to perform hands-on clinical procedures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in an orthopedic clinic or similar setting
- Experience with casting and splinting in a clinical environment
- Familiarity with EPIC EMR
- Radiography experience (if applicable/licensed)
