Perma-Pipe in Calgary, Canada is looking for an experienced Estimator
The Estimator is responsible for the review and analysis of Requests for Quotation (RFQs), plans, specifications, and additional quotation requests received by the Sales Department. This role plays a critical part in promoting PERMA-PIPE Canada’s products by providing prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable service to clients and customers. Essential Job Functions
Position Functions
- Participate as a key member of the Sales and Estimation Team, following the Pre‑PO workflow as outlined in the RFQ to Cash process map.
- Obtain RFQ documents and assist in assembling and responding to customer RFQs.
- Collaborate with Technical, Production, and Post‑PO teams to compile accurate project estimates, including post‑project variance reporting.
- Source pricing and solution details from third‑party vendors to support project estimations.
- Partner with Sales Representatives to review take‑offs, project requirements, and specifications, identifying optimal product solutions.
- Prepare detailed project estimates, formal quotations, and comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring required approvals are obtained in accordance with company policies.
- Coordinate with Sales Representatives to manage proposal submissions, follow‑ups, and ongoing client engagement.
- Work closely with the Inside Sales Coordinator to support seamless project execution and on‑time delivery.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues during project execution, escalating concerns as needed and maintaining clear stakeholder communication.
- Respond to inbound customer and internal inquiries with accuracy and professionalism.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering customized product and service solutions.
- Continuously develop technical and application knowledge of PERMA-PIPE product lines.
- Provide professional and courteous support to Outside Sales and internal stakeholders.
- Conduct Customer Feedback surveys and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Uphold PERMA-PIPE’s Partners in Excellence commitment through exceptional customer service.
- Support sales and customer engagement at industry conferences, trade shows, and training events at manufacturing sites.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Technical & Industry Expertise
- Strong knowledge of estimation methodologies and project costing
- Experience reviewing RFQs, drawings, plans, and technical specifications
- Industry experience within DHC/MFP and Line Pipe sectors (preferred)
- Ability to develop, analyze, and maintain complex pricing and estimation models
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and product applications

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Comfortable working with office equipment including computers, phones, and copiers
Education
- University or College degree preferred
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience
- Proven experience in estimation or project costing
- Experience in DHC/MFP and Line Pipe industries is an asset
Working Relationships & Reporting
- Reports directly to the Sr. Sales Manager
- Works closely with the Sr. Inside Sales Representative on a daily basis
- Frequent interaction with Sales, Technical, Production, and other internal teams
