About This Location:
Our Home Office is in the heart of Bloor West Village in Toronto, just steps away from Jane Subway station. This is an on-site, office-based role requiring attendance in the office five days per week.

About This Role:
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Pension, Benefits and Wellness and following company policies and procedures; supports ill and injured employees by reporting and administering all disability related absences while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant policies and legislation; administers accommodation and health and wellness programs; and provides administrative support to the Senior Manager, Pension, Benefits and Wellness as well as the Benefit and Pension Team and the Human Resources Department.
Key Qualifications and Demonstrated Abilities:
- Certification or working towards certification in Disability Management.
- Five (5) years’ experience in working with disability claims.
- Sound knowledge of company disability and wellness programs.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; verbal, written and presentation.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills with the ability to partner will all levels of the organization.
- Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a highly confidential environment.

Responsibilities:
- Administers the companies Short-term Sick Leave (STS), Occupational Sick Leave (OSL), and Long-term Disability (LTD) programs.
- Prepare and distribute insurance forms, updates and Arbor documents relating to disability management and wellness.
- Provides first point of contact service to employees, managers and departments regarding disability, accommodation and wellness programs.
- Collaborate with the payroll team to ensure all illness/injury benefits are allocated accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintains contact with employees and managers appropriate to case management protocols and policies.
- Reviews and processes all expenses for requested medical certificates and OSL expenses in accordance with company policy.
- Develops and delivers training programs for managers on disability management, workplace wellness and accommodation processes.
- Collaborates with Human Resources Advisors, managers, insurance providers and other key players including senior management, in dealing with complex disability claims.
- Facilitates return to work and accommodation programs in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Tracks and monitors all disability claims and reports to Senior Manager, Pension, Benefits and Wellness on complicated claims and issues.
- Identifies employees who are non-compliant with medical requirements and collaborate with Human Resources Advisors to manage absenteeism in accordance with company policy.
- Coordinates monthly disability review meetings with members of the disability providers, including preparation and distribution of disability reports to all meeting members.
- Coordinates requests for unpaid medical leave of absences and monitors ongoing absences.
- Perform LTD audits to ensure eligibility and termination are accurate.
- Processes Life and LTD premium waivers when authorized by the insurance carriers.
- Enters disability related data into HRIS and creates and modifies reports accordingly. Conducts HRIS data audits to ensure accurate data.
- Coordinates the companies’ wellness programs, including the preparation and distribution of monthly wellness communications, arranging training sessions and webinars, monitors and tracks utilization and provides monthly demographics to the wellness providers.
- Ensuring disability, accommodation and wellness information documentation are up to date and posted on the companies’ intranet site.
- Assists the Manager, Pension and Benefits, with implementation of various wellness and disability programs, when required.
- Responds to inquiries on disability management, accommodation and wellness and take appropriate action.
- Acts as a back up to the Senior Manager, Pension, Benefits and Wellness.
- Acts as a back up to the Benefit Coordinator and periodically assists with benefit enrolments and the bi-annual re-enrolment process.
- Assists Human Resources department with various projects, as assigned and performs other duties, as required.
