Job Description
The Assistant STEM Facilitator is responsible for assisting with the preparation and delivery of STEM programming, mentoring, and activities for all participants. STEM programs provide a supportive environment, led by advocates and STEM professionals, inspiring participants to pursue STEM fields and see the connections between STEM and everyday life. This individual will also have a pivotal role in being a role model/mentor to all participants, promoting their well-being, development, confidence, and success; motivating and inspiring all to be active participants in program activities, promoting their long-term involvement and providing evaluation and feedback to ensure our programs stay relevant to all
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with preparing and delivering high-quality, interactive STEM programming for participants creating lesson plans that are culturally relevant for a diverse student population
- Assists with the coordination of opportunities for program participants to engage with industry/subject matter experts (e.g. guest speakers, visits to area laboratories, etc.)
- Create a safe space for all to explore their values, identities, and academic and career options
- Be a role model/mentor, promoting well-being, development, confidence, and success; motivate and inspire all to be active participants in program activities, encouraging their long-term involvement
- Assists with recording and maintaining program, attendance, outcome, and evaluation data; share with supervisor
- Encourage the development of positive peer relationships among program participants
- Assist in recruitment and registration in STEM programs
- Ensure participant safety; follow the agreed-upon protocol for mandated reporting
- Communicate concerns about program effectiveness, safety, or inappropriate behavior to supervisor
- Assists the STEM Facilitator with designing and adapting curriculum for students in a fun, interactive, and empowering learning environment
- Expertise in STEM fields and ability to work independently
- Ability to organize effectively (track tasks and work to deadlines)
- Prioritize appropriately and act in keeping with priorities
- Able to identify and address inhibitors to progress
- Expertise with office technologies, especially Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and internet resources such as google docs

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, STEM or related field.
- 1-2 years experience delivering youth leadership programming.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, sharing information and effective practices Candidate will be expected to travel to program sites.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Spanish bi-lingual a plus.
