Job Description
As the Design Engineer, you will find a challenging opportunity producing high-quality products that will serve leading companies in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing. You will contribute to the development of Watlow’s line heating product line. This role will be focused on designing new cloth and/or silicone rubber product development projects for all our customers, with Semiconductor emphasis. You will work directly with internal customers to understand their needs and helping translate that to a working product. Responsibilities will also include supporting testing and building of prototypes when necessary and working closely with operators to guide them when building prototypes. Working within our constructive culture as the Engineer II, you will advance and develop your autonomy, mastery and purpose, through coaching and leadership provided by your team leader.
Key Responsibilities
Designing models and creating drawings for new product development line heating products.
Communicating with Internal customers to understand their design needs and directly translating that into the thermal system design
Completing drawing changes and creating/revising other documentation (travelers/BOMs/etc.) in support of product and process development
Assisting in development work when needed – performing tests, building prototypes, and developing processes.
Designing products so that they meet customer requirements but also meet what is realistic from a manufacturing standpoint
Working with suppliers to convey drawings and critical requirements.
Required Qualifications
3D modeling experience creating models and drawings from customer specifications (SolidWorks preferred)
Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) required
Experience creating detailed documentation of products and processes
Flexibility to change designs and models based on customer’s needs
Ability to translate customer requirements into thermal system specifications/features
Bachelor’s degree or two-year degree and related experience, or equivalent experience (1-3 years)
Basic Electrical knowledge.
Desired Qualifications
Basic understanding of thermal systems.
GD&T.
Ability to identify ways to improve design and process of new development products.
Experience with failure mode analysis and DFMEA
