Position Summary / Objective
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of facility operations and technical production services, including lighting, sound, video, staging, and rigging. This role manages project execution, leads and develops operations staff, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to support the successful delivery of client projects.
Position Responsibilities
The following duties represent the primary responsibilities of the role. This list is not exhaustive. The individual in this position will perform additional tasks as assigned, adhere to all provisions of the Employee Manual, and participate in company initiatives and projects.
Operations & Project Management
- Manage all aspects of facility operations, including lighting, sound, video, staging, and rigging services.
- Oversee project planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure successful delivery of client projects.
- Work closely with other departments, including sales and production, to ensure cohesive execution of projects, providing operational insights and cost estimates as needed.
- Manage resource allocation to ensure optimal use of warehouse staff across multiple concurrent projects.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor the Operations team, support staff, and technicians.
- Foster a positive working environment focused on collaboration, accountability, performance excellence, and staff development.
- Manage direct reports across all areas of performance and productivity, including conducting regular one-on-one meetings and annual performance reviews.
Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all operations are conducted in compliance with applicable health and safety regulations.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, particularly related to rigging and technical production.
- Establish and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure all production outputs meet the company’s high standards.
- Conduct regular reviews and audits of out-of-commission equipment.
Equipment, Inventory & Systems
- Ensure all technical equipment is properly maintained, stored, and serviced.
- Manage inventory and oversee procurement of new or replacement equipment as needed.
- Utilize Warehouse Management Systems to support inventory and operational needs.
Work Environment
This role operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines. The work setting includes both office and warehouse locations, with time spent at event venues as required.
Physical Demands
The individual in this role must be able to remain in a stationary position approximately 25% of the time. The position requires frequent movement within office, warehouse, and event environments. The individual must be capable of frequently lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds. Occasional bending, squatting, and walking are required. This role involves regular use of computers, telephones, and related equipment for up to 75% of the workday. The individual will be exposed to fluctuating temperatures and occasional loud noise levels.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. The role follows a typical workday schedule; however, evening and weekend work may be required during high-volume sales periods.
Travel
This position requires travel of up to 25%. Travel may include both local and out-of-area trips and may occasionally require overnight stays.
Required
- Minimum 4-year degree from an accredited college or commensurate experience.
- Proven experience managing large-scale productions with emphasis on lighting, sound, video, and rigging.
- Strong knowledge of technical production equipment and industry standards.
- Experience with budgeting, financial forecasting, and cost management.
- Ability to work in high-pressure environments while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with industry-specific health and safety regulations, particularly regarding rigging and live events.
- Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (Flex Rental Solutions preferred).
- Demonstrated passion, humility, integrity, positive attitude, and self-directed work ethic.
